Tamil actor Vijay, founder of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), denounced divisive forces and corrupt entities as his party's adversaries during the party's first conference in Vikravandi.

Vijay, the Tamil actor and founder of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), strongly condemned what he viewed as divisive forces and corrupt entities, identifying them as the primary adversaries of his party. During a public conference in Vikravandi, he introduced TVK's ideology, which is inspired by social justice figures like EVR Periyar and K Kamaraj, highlighting the party's commitment to equality and secular principles.
While speaking at the event, Vijay indirectly criticized the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its leaders without explicitly naming them. He criticized the DMK for labeling an anti-people government as the "Dravida model rule" and deceiving the public. He urged them to refrain from painting their opponents in a negative light.
Vijay emphasized that TVK's enemies are twofold: those engaging in divisive politics and a self-serving family exploiting Tamil Nadu in the guise of the Dravida model, using the names of Periyar and Anna for their own gain.
He also made historical references, mentioning leaders like M.G. Ramachandran and N.T. Ramarao who transitioned from cinema to politics. Vijay criticized those who associate a specific color with individuals entering politics, accusing them of misleading the public and creating unnecessary fears among the united populace.
Vijay reiterated that TVK's core belief is that everyone is inherently equal and criticized those who oppose this principle. He warned against corrupt entities, likening them to elusive viruses that masquerade behind masks of ideology and culture, ultimately ruling over the people.
TVK Maanadu: Vijay Affirms Secular Social Justice as Party's Ideology
Vijay highlighted TVK's ideology, emphasizing the importance of secular social justice and the party's dedication to democracy, equality, rational thinking, women's empowerment, and a drug-free Tamil Nadu. He pledged to empower women within the party and respect individuals' religious choices, clarifying that Periyarist policies encompassed social justice and women's empowerment, not just atheism.
To showcase TVK's inclusivity, Vijay mentioned that the party does not differentiate between 'Dravidam' and Tamil nationalism. He explained his decision not to name those he criticized during his speech, stating that their aim is to engage in politics with dignity and ideological battles, rather than resorting to personal attacks.
TVK Maanadu: Vijay Discusses NEET, Anitha's Suicide; Manifesto Includes Eliminating the Governor's Position
Reflecting on personal experiences, Vijay shared his deep emotional response to the alleged suicide of medical aspirant S. Anitha who failed to clear the NEET exam. He argued against the necessity of such entrance examinations, drawing parallels to his own family tragedy and expressing empathy for Anitha's situation.
Vijay also explained his decision to enter politics during the peak of his acting career, despite the financial sacrifices involved. He expressed optimism about TVK's prospects in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and expressed willingness to form alliances, offering partners a share in power, a departure from the state's traditional political practices.
During the event, TVK members unveiled the party's principles and plans in the presence of Vijay. The party's ideology, based on the principle that "all lives are equal by birth" from the Tirukkural, aims to create a society free from caste, creed, and gender-based discrimination. The party advocates for proportional representation and supports a caste census to achieve this objective.
According to India Today, TVK's manifesto includes objectives such as abolishing the Governor's post, promoting Tamil as the official language in courts, ensuring gender equality, conducting a caste-based census, transferring education to the state list, eliminating discrimination based on religion, caste, or color, promoting a corruption-free administration, opposing anti-people policies of the central government, implementing a two-language policy for Tamil Nadu, advocating for a drug-free state, establishing a code of conduct for lawmakers, and upholding secularism, social justice, equality, and democracy.
During the event, Vijay was presented with a symbolic sword and copies of the Constitution, Bhagavad Gita, Quran, and Bible, symbolizing the party's secular values.
